Castlebar Concert Band have over 30 members from secondary school age to retirement.
The band welcomes new members from the brass, wind or percussion sections. No auditions are required! If you are learning an instrument we recommend starting with the training band which allows members to practice the music at a slower pace.
We play in a range of venues throughout the year from formal concerts to street performances, a christmas pub trial and at GAA matches.
Rehearsals
Castlebar Concert Band practices every Tuesday evening throughout the school year. Practices take place in the Music West Building, Castlebar from 7.30pm to 9pm.
Joining the band
Registration takes place each September or throughout the year in consultation with the musical director. The registration fee is €120 per adult, and €60 per child/student (€150 family discount). Membership enables you to join one or more groups within Music West.
Dress Code
Uniforms are supplied (Band jacket, trousers, shirt and tie) but prior to receiving yours please dress in formal black trousers, white shirt and formal black jacket. You will need to supply black socks and shoes.
You will also need a black music stand for seated concerts and a marching lyre for your instrument for marching (Lyres are instrument specific and can be purchased from music shops or online).
